POSITION SUMMARY

The Supply Chain Specialist position is based in Houston, Texas and will be part of the Drilling & Completions Category Management Team, reporting to the Team Lead for Materials and Equipment, with the primary focus area of Oil Country Tubular Goods (OCTG).  The Specialist will be responsible for managing and coordinating global contracts and preferred supplier relationships for onshore and offshore OCTG and related services.

 

The successful candidate will work closely and develop strong business relationships in order to:

  • Drive integrated value creation through heavy involvement in cross-functional category management teams.
  • Develop comprehensive, cross asset solutions which underpin a sustainable competitive advantage for Hess.
  • Tailor category strategies which deliver the lowest, direct and indirect, lifecycle costs.
  • Implement commercial solutions which increase Hess’ ability to be nimble and responsive in the marketplace.
  • Partner and collaborate with key service suppliers to identify opportunities and extract maximum value out of Hess’ relationships.

 

The successful candidate will have strong sourcing and contracting skills and will be expected to work in a team atmosphere supporting a variety of category needs.  The successful candidate must be able to work effectively with limited supervision and will need to plan for and manage his/her daily activities and complex projects/issues. The successful candidate will be expected to apply analytical, technical, and industry knowledge, standards and practices to routine assignments and complex projects. The Specialist will work closely and develop strong business relationships with internal and external stakeholders to define the best solutions, which address priority business needs or issues. The ability to conduct necessary analysis, devise and present appropriate approaches and solutions, and ensure the timely delivery of high quality services is a must. A strong contracting background, negotiation skills, interpersonal skills and attention to detail are essential for success in this role.  The Specialist will support specific projects/initiatives aimed at improving the efficiency of GSC and actively cultivate strong relationships with contractors and suppliers via facilitation of Supplier Relationship Management (SRM) engagements.

 

ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES

 

  • Support the tendering process for supply agreements including scope of work and coordination with internal and external business partners.
  • Evaluate proposals with business partner to identify the best solution instead of the ideal technical solution or lowest price, and draft proposals to GSC and Business Partner management.
  • Develop RFI, RFP/ITT, negotiation, and contracting templates to ensure consistency across all projects.
  • Develop and implement price escalation models and should-cost model related to OCTG to guide price adjustment negotiations with suppliers.
  • Develop and implement key performance indicators that facilitate issues resolution related to OCTG as part of a planned escalation process with suppliers.
  • Negotiate legal and commercial terms that achieve optimal business results.
  • Oversees the contract execution and administration process to ensure that it is being performed in accordance with requirements and meets key SCM performance metrics.
  • Identify key contract risks and the associated mitigation strategies
  • Work with Supply Chain leadership to implement category specific plans and strategies and assist them in implementing through regional procurement plans.
  • Develop and maintain strategic relationships with key mills and distributors to ensure quality, service, commercial terms, surety of supply and optimal leverage across all projects
  • Apply industry knowledge and use available tools to offer alternative approaches/solutions where other 'fit for purpose' options do not exist.
  • Ensure compliance with legislative regulations and corporate policies and procedures (Sarbanes-Oxley, FCPA, etc.)
  • Plan and schedule work activities, within prescribed parameters
  • Complete Lean training and promote innovation and continual process improvement throughout GSC

 

QUALIFICATIONS
Experience

  • 5+ years of professional level work experience in Supply Chain with Exploration and Production related experience in OCTG is required
  • Working knowledge of Lean / Six Sigma principles is preferred

 

Education, Training & Certifications

  • Undergraduate degree in Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Industrial Distribution or closely related degree is strongly desired (or equivalent work experience); advanced degree a plus
  • Strong computer skills including SAP, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project.
