The Manager, Offshore Materials and Logistics is responsible for developing and implementing strategies, plans and driving consistency across Hess’ Offshore assets in the Americas, Europe, Asia and Africa.  The role is based in Houston, Texas and is a direct member of the Gulf of Mexico Supply Chain team. The role has five Houston-based direct reports and one contract Warehouse Specialist.  This position reports directly to the Senior Manager, Global Supply Chain – Offshore. 


The Manager, Offshore Materials and Logistics serves as the lead to Hess Offshore operating units regarding business delivery and standardization of processes.  It is also responsible for the day to day operations of the Gulf of Mexico Materials and Logistics teams. The main roles and responsibilities include:

  • Accountable for Materials and Logistics (M&L) execution within the 4 offshore assets, with primary focus on Gulf of Mexico
  • Establish Offshore M&L strategic plan, and provide direction setting, expectations, measures, and subject matter expertise to local/regional supply chain leaders and staff
  • Drive M&L consistency, performance and compliance across the Offshore assets
  • Ensure standard work and local procedures are in place to comply with M&L Standards and Procedures.
  • Lead offshore M&L operating rhythm, using dashboard metrics to identify problems and drive continuous improvement across all offshore assets
  • Lead Lean Problem Solving, Kaizen events, and JIT Materials Enhancements
  • Enhance Lean capability throughout Offshore M&L team
  • Serve as single point of contact for GSC Offshore Sr Manager for M&L related operational deliverables, metrics, and inquiry resolution across 4 offshore assets.
  • Work closely with Central Materials team to drive consistency, compliance and best practices
  • Collaborate with Category Management to conduct SRM for Materials and 3PL/4PL Models
  • Collaborate with Supply Chain teams and Operations to lower total cost and deliver enhanced value for materials, logistics, and business activities across Offshore
  • Lead safety culture within the team; use Hazard observation and Safety Behavior observation approach to identify and mitigate trends to prevent incidents
  • Travel to drive best practices and build capability of teams across all Assets


  • 10+ years Materials, Inventory, Warehouse and Shorebase Management Processes experience
  • Offshore experience, understanding of the unique challenges
  • Logistics and Marine operations experience
  • Inventory strategy, network optimization, inventory integrity, material flow optimization, master data process enablers
  • Experience with upstream materials management; Materials and Equipment Knowledge (How are the materials used in Developments, Drilling, Production)
  • Complete Supply Chain Process experience and knowledge
  • Lean Leadership experience, with understanding of waste elimination, and value stream management/ flow optimization
  • Systems application experience and knowledge (SAP)
  • Proven Ability to Manage Multiple Tasks, Prioritize Issues, Manage Diversity and Develop Creative Solutions to Achieve Results

Education, Training & Certifications

  • Undergraduate degree in Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Industrial Distribution or closely related degree is strongly desired (or equivalent work experience); advanced degree a plus
