This role is part of the Central Global Supply Chain (GSC) Materials organization, whose role is to drive standardization and lead continuous improvement and problem-solving work on common Materials Management processes and systems across all Hess assets. 


The Specialist will be the global GSC lead for the Materials Requirements Planning (MRP) process and systems, and provide additional support for inventory integrity and financial-related materials processes. Work will include establishing and continuously improving MRP standards, procedures and systems, providing training and problem-solving/continuous improvement support to asset teams, and working with business partners in Maintenance Reliability & Integrity (MR&I)/GSC/IT/Finance/ to ensure Hess’ materials planning processes are effectively meeting business needs.




  • Work with business partners to understand business needs/ requirements and collaborate with Central Materials & Logistics (M&L) team to define strategies/actions/services needed
  • Provide Materials Requirements Planning (MRP) process leadership, support and analytics including:
    • Assess/update MRP standards and procedures
    • Analyze historical consumption data for MRP analysis and procedure development
    • Develop MRP Analysis tools
    • Develop training materials and assist in delivery of the training
    • Support Assets in problem-solving related to MRP
  • Support physical inventory counts through asset training/preparation, reporting, and participation as needed 
  • Support reconciliation of Suspense Accounts through research/asset training on root cause identification/elimination
  • Apply industry knowledge, Lean techniques and available tools to identify problems, resolve root causes and standardize across assets to sustain result and share best practices.
  • Plan and manage projects/activities (self and assigned team-based) within established operating structure and methods, ensuring link to team and asset objectives
  • Complete Lean training and promote standardization, problem solving and continuous process improvement throughout GSC
  • Demonstrate/lead safety culture; use Hazard observation and Safety Behavior observation approach to identify and mitigate trends to prevent incidents
  • International and domestic onshore travel between 25-40%, to ‘go and see’, train and implement processes



Experience and Knowledge

  • 5+ years of relevant professional work experience, including materials management, inventory analysis, materials requirements planning
  • ERP Systems application experience and knowledge, specifically with MRP and Materials Management (SAP is preferred)
  • Advanced understanding and experience with materials requirements planning (MRP), inventory strategy and stocking levels, master data enablers, and planning/scheduling processes
  • Basic understanding of overall Materials Management processes including network optimization, material flow optimization, inventory integrity and warehouse and yard management
  • Demonstrated ability to create and revise effective process flows and process documents
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills 
  • Excellent Computer Skills including MS Excel, MS Word, MS Powerpoint, Sharepoint


Education, Training & Certifications

  • Undergraduate degree in Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Industrial Distribution or closely related degree is strongly desired (or equivalent work experience); advanced degree a plus
