HYBRID ELIGIBILITY

This position works a hybrid schedule, spending time remotely and in the office in Tioga, ND. The current hybrid schedule provides flexibility to collaborate in the office Tuesdays through Thursdays and work from home Mondays and Fridays. With our 9/80 feature you get time off every other Friday when you work at least 80 hours over the preceding nine days.

 

POSTION SUMMARY

Maintenance Engineering is a critical role in our Reliability and Maintenance strategy for driving operational excellence.  This role is part of the Upstream Reliability Engineering team supporting continuous improvement in rotating equipment availability and productivity for the ND Upstream Asset (Wells and Pads).  This role interacts closely with Operations, Maintenance, Reliability Engineers, Condition Monitoring, Master Data, and Supply Chain functions in support of equipment surveillance, maintenance, troubleshooting, materials management, and continuous improvement.

 

ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES 

The primary areas of focus for this role include: 

  • Maintenance Strategies
    • Develop, maintain, and assure Maintenance Strategies are evergreen including Operations’ Autonomous Maintenance, Preventative Maintenance, Corrective Maintenance, Repair and Spares strategies
    • SAP Master Data oversite including driving quality of SAP data
    • Work with Supply Chain on spare parts stocking levels and preventative maintenance for spare parts
  • Support Reliability Engineer with optimization of preventative, predictive, and condition-based maintenance based on failure and inspection history
  • Provide expertise on failures and repair techniques during investigations and root cause analysis
  • Support Operations and Maintenance on troubleshooting failures, repairs, and evaluating whether equipment is designed to meet its intended or existing service conditions
  • During repairs, closely follow jobs to ensure that repair details such as clearances, tolerances, materials of construction, welding procedures, etc.. are provided and documented.  Provide technical support and involve asset subject matter experts and suppliers/vendors as needed
  • Ensure repair techniques, repair procedures, and equipment specific training are documented and made available
  • Provide technical support for specification, identification and purchasing of needed parts
  • Serve as a technical resource to the maintenance planners on work packages
  • Oversees and performs Quality Assurance on OEM or outside shop repairs as needed
  • Provide equipment surveillance to assure performance as expected or impending issues are recognized and acted proactively. Work closely with Condition Monitoring team to assure equipment health is monitored and when actions necessary works closely with Condition Monitoring, Maintenance, and Operations to develop effective mitigation actions
  • Coordinate and assure MOC requirements
  • Identify projects to improve reliability and maintenance; may lead small project execution

Work Environment

  • Field based role (Tioga) 5/2 (9/80) work schedule.  The expectations of this role include a heavy field presence where the work is being done.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Preferred 3+ years refining, petrochemical, oil and gas industry experience or equivalent industry related experience such as energy, military maintenance, mining or other heavy manufacturing
  • Experience in a progressive reliability organization with strong maintenance and operations experience a plus
  • Basic proficiency in the following areas with the ability to develop into a subject matter expert in particular areas:
    • Knowledge of industry codes and standards (i.e. ASME, API, ANSI)
    • Fixed equipment (piping, flange make-up, pressure vessels, heat exchangers)
    • Rotating equipment (pumps, compressors, engines, turbines, motors, blowers, fans)
    • Electrical systems including low and medium voltage motors, VFDs, control systems
    • Failure analysis
    • Project management
    • Knowledge of work management system, corrective/preventative maintenance, and equipment master data
    • RCM based Predictive and Preventive Maintenance strategies
  • Strong knowledge of applicable EHS procedures/practices such as Permit to Work, Energy Isolation, Respiratory Protection, PPE, Emergency Response
  • Proficient computer skills / business system knowledge (SAP, Microsoft Suite)
  • Possess strong written and verbal communications skills with ability to lead, coach, and train others
  • Excellent collaboration and interpersonal communication skills
  • Strong analytical, technical, and problem-solving skills
  • Able to work in fast-paced, constantly changing production environment
  • Must be available outside normal working hours for technical support if needed
  • Strong organization, time management, prioritization, and planning skills and able to manage multiple tasks with tight deadlines for self and team

Education & Training

  • Bachelors of Science degree in engineering
  • Industry certification in reliability processes and methods is preferred
