POSITION SUMMARY

The Electrical Reliability Engineer will provide a range of engineering, technical, and operational support to the asset to optimize equipment reliability and availability for the GOM asset. Core purpose includes bad actor analytics, root cause analysis, and asset strategy management for electrical systems. Provides understanding of the overall electrical systems from generation to utilization in order to provide asset operations with subject matter expertise that they do not have otherwise. Provides technical assurance for NFPA 70, NFPA 70E, ABS and USCG requirements for electrical design and safety.

 

ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Mine and analyze equipment reliability data to establish and monitor reliability bad actors.
  • Analyzes equipment failures and performs Root Cause Failure Analysis. Reports findings and cause of failures while identifying remedial and preventative actions.
  • Accountable as the Technical Authority for the Electrical Discipline with respect to Safety, application of relevant Regulations, Codes and Standards, Management of Change (MOC). Equipment specifications and ratings, maintenance and operation.
  • Develop and optimize maintenance strategies and routines for equipment such as MV & LV switchgear, MV & LV power generators, MV & LV motors, transformers, UPS, batteries and any other electrical equipment as required (examples include preventative, predictive, condition-based maintenance, and evaluation of run to failure case).
  • Develop and optimize equipment repair and spare strategies as well as equipment standards based on value.
  • Develop and optimize reliability operating envelopes for equipment groups/packages.
  • Perform regular audits of surveillance systems for operating envelopes, such as motor circuit analysis data and trends.
  • Support MR&I Brownfield Engineering projects.
  • Interface with Craft Logistics Specialist for Electrical discipline as well as facility Electricians to provide subject matter expert guidance/support as needed.
  • Support EHS and Regulatory functions, as well as participates in MOC process, to ensure compliance is maintained.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor of Science Engineering Degree in Electrical Engineering
  • 8+ Years of experience with electrical system maintenance.
  • Familiar with ETAP electrical systems analysis software and also with SAP.
  • Knowledgeable in API 500, API 14F and NFPA 70, 70E and 70B.
  • Offshore experience a plus, especially with USCG/ABS facilities.
