POSITION SUMMARY

The Facilities Project Engineering Advisor will lead and coordinate front end loading activities for typical midstream projects such as gas plant modifications, oil and gas gathering and transmission buildouts, and new field facilities construction. Front end project activities include development of project objectives, requirements, business case, technical feasibility (engineering, cost and schedule), identification of options and final concept selection leading to a basis for design package. Projects in our portfolio cover the size range from medium ($1-20 MM) to large ($100 MM). The position will work closely with team members from business development, commercial, marketing, and operations. Project development occurs at Hess within the framework of an industry standard stage gate process.

 

ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Coordination of development of multiple projects according to a corporate stage gate process
  • Closely working with Commercial, Marketing, and other business functions to identify and shape project objectives and requirements
  • Coordination of  resources providing land-rights acquisition and regulatory permitting
  • Management of a project’s front end internal and external engineering and design activities 
  • Identification and evaluation of multiple possible asset solutions 
  • Performing preliminary process simulation, hydraulics and constraint modeling
  • Early identification of a project’s environmental, health, and safety aspects
  • Assurance of alignment of project scope  with business objectives
  • Providing project economic analysis using standard discounted cash flow methods
  • Development of preliminary Project Execution Plans which include front end engineering and design activities
  • Preliminary project cost and schedule estimation
  • Participation in technical design reviews, HAZOP studies, and pre-startup safety reviews
  • Development of effective decision support documents
  • Proactive identification and capture of lessons learned, knowledge sharing opportunities, and industry best practice
  • Continuous improvement of project delivery processes

QUALIFICATIONS

Required

  • Legally authorized to work in the US
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Chemical, Mechanical,  Civil, Electrical Engineering
  • 7 or more years of experience  in the oil and gas industry

 

Preferred

  • Experience in project development, design and operation of gas plants, oil and gas pipelines, pipeline metering facilities, gas compression facilities, liquid pump stations ( Midstream applications)
  • Experience in chemical process simulation
  • 10 or more years of experience developing or engineering Midstream projects

     

LOCATION

  • Minot, North Dakota or Houston, Texas
  • Travel 20-40%
