POSITION SUMMARY
The newly formed Hess Technology Group seeks to transform our business performance through innovation/technology application and thrive in a continually disruptive world.  The group has defined four key technology focus areas (“Fab 4”) and 12 key problems to solve and needs additional capacity to integrate technology into business plans, reports, and communications.  In support of this effort, we have a vacant Houston-based role focused on being the central connection point between technology searchers, developers, appliers, business planners, and the broader Hess technology-interested community.

 

The responsibilities of this position include defining, enabling and implementing the technology planning, measurement, reporting, integration, and communication tools, processes, and rhythms.

 

The role will develop a concise, cohesive system that is the backbone to orchestrating and demonstrating that status of the technology funnel, technology pilots, organizational pulse (technology survey), performance gaps, budget vs forecast, as well as budget and plan. The role will integrate closely across the technology team, asset technology managers, Fab 4 point contacts, digital enablement leader, across functions, the planning community, and select external providers (e.g, Darcy Partners).  Responsibilities include working with technology appliers in estimating future people, rigs, costs, kit to improve ‘planning for technology execution without disrupting the normal assembly line’.  The role will also further develop and coordinate the University of Wyoming project tracking system including orchestration of monthly and quarterly meetings to steward project progress.

 

The initial focus of the position will include a project to identify current state of planning process, future desired state, gaps and prioritized areas for planning process development

 

ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Orchestrate technology and business planning functions.  Integrate across assets & functions including assessment of business needs vs technology availability & organizational capability
  • Provide strategy development and support
  • Coordinate external benchmarking, market intelligence, competitive analysis, gap identification, and remediation tracking
  • Develop and disseminate reporting including innovative approaches
  • Track Budget vs Plan/Forecast
  • Coordinate UW projects stewardship
  • Evaluate economics and provide prioritization
  • Network internally and externally.  Build relationships and contacts across the budding Hess Technology eco-system across assets/IT, functions, planners, UW, and select suppliers

 

QUALIFICATIONS
Experience/Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience in Oil & Gas Operations
    • Broad understanding of core principles of Upstream business with specialist knowledge in at least one functional discipline (Subsurface and planning beneficial)
  • Credible and respected Advisor with strong upstream experience; ability to interact effectively at Senior Executive levels and widely across the organization
  • Strong quantitative skills are required.  Ability to process information from a variety of sources quickly, and derive insights with guidance from other members of the team
  • Demonstrated ability to build relationships across multiple stakeholders
  • Extraordinary organization and product delivery; strategic thinker with high output
  • Comfortable with ambiguity, yet quick to converge on solutions
  • Strong influencing capabilities
  • Works well in a collaborative environment; actively shares best practices and is a team player

Education, Training & Certifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Sciences, Technology, Engineering, or Math is required; advanced degree and/or MBA is strongly preferred
