HYBRID ELIGIBILITY

This position works a hybrid schedule, spending time remotely and in the office in Houston, TX. The current hybrid schedule provides flexibility to collaborate in the office Tuesdays through Thursdays and work from home Mondays and Fridays. With our 9/80 feature you get time off every other Friday when you work at least 80 hours over the preceding nine days.

 

 

Position Summary

 

Commercial Specialist (Guyana, Suriname, New Ventures) will report to the Sr. Commercial Manager (Guyana, Suriname, New Ventures) and is responsible for commercial contract management, agreement negotiation support, new venture activity monitoring, competitor analysis, stakeholder engagement, and commercial pricing analysis across Guyana, Suriname, and New Ventures. The ideal candidate will possess strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks, develop internal and external stakeholder relationships, and work with multidisciplinary teams.

 

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Commercial Contract Administration
    • Manage obligations and updates for Production Sharing Contracts, Joint Operating Agreements, Bidding Agreements, Crude Lifting Agreements, Confidentiality Agreements, and other commercial agreements in CLM and QLS systems.
    • Administer ballot processes and approvals for the Guyana & Suriname region.
    • Manage Authority to Negotiate (AtN) and Authority to Contract (AtC) approvals.
    • Maintain asset summaries and update of Hess Model Form Agreements.

  • Commercial Negotiations Support
    • Support the negotiation of commercial contracts and agreements, ensuring optimal terms are achieved within approved parameters.
    • Monitor and coordinate new venture opportunity data room access
    • Manage external presentation approvals (Hess and JV parties).

 

  • Economic & Pricing Analysis
    • Assist in updating and maintaining economic models to support strategic decisions.
    • Commercial pricing analysis.

 

  • Internal Corporate Reporting
    • Support requisite internal reporting obligations, including annual reserve audits, and SEC 10K reporting to ensure accurate corporate filings.

 

  • Stakeholder Engagement
    • Develop and maintain relationships with joint venture parties, governments, ministries, regulators, National Oil Companies (NoCs), and other key stakeholders.
    • Support in-country influence and engagement strategies with JV parties, governments, ministries, and NoCs.
    • Participate as Hess representative in the Stabroek JV Revenue Working Group, Crude Lifting Working Group, and other working groups as required.
  • Competitor Analysis
    • Maintain competitor surveillance, intelligence, and analysis.

 

Qualifications

 

Experience

5+ years in upstream oil & gas value chain experience; exposure to commercial contracts, negotiations, and external JV stakeholder engagements a plus

Education, Training & Certifications

Bachelor’s degree required; MBA or Law degree a plus
