HYBRID ELIGIBILITY

This position works a hybrid schedule, spending time remotely and in the office in Houston, TX. The current hybrid schedule provides flexibility to collaborate in the office Tuesdays through Thursdays and work from home Mondays and Fridays. With our 9/80 feature you get time off every other Friday when you work at least 80 hours over the preceding nine days.

 

 

Position Summary

 

     The GOM EHS Advisor – Drilling & Developments is an office role that supports offshore Drilling & Completions and Developments in the Gulf of Mexico. Reporting to the GOM Senior Manager of EHS, this position provides practical EHS support for drilling facilities and development activities. Responsibilities include supporting Hess GOM field activities, managing contractor relationships, and ensuring EHS programs comply with regulations and best practices. This role closely collaborates with offshore asset teams in Operations, EHS, Drilling, and Interventions.

     Day to day activities of the position are focused on supporting offshore GOM assets with developing and optimizing EHS programs to ensure compliance and effective processes/systems are in place and sustainable. The position regularly requires working with offshore personnel and internal GOM leadership. This position will require frequent offshore travel to train, implement and ensure sustainable EHS programs are in place and compliant with regulations and internal requirements. This position is expected to be capable of independent analysis of regulatory requirements, offshore processes and developing countermeasures, as applicable. Proficient at reading and interpreting regulatory requirements, writing reports and presenting to GOM leadership and developing appropriate solutions to meet EHS requirements.

 

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Lead position in developing, improving and implementing EHS processes in compliance with internal/external requirements for D&C and Developments.
  • Develops, amends, and leads the implementation of Hess Rules and key processes for offshore D&C assets. 
  • Monitor regulations to determine potential impact on offshore operations and advise management accordingly.
  • Participate as Hess GOM Incident Management Team member (ICS 100/200 organization structure).
  • Assist offshore assets with actions to close audit findings. Follow up on corrective actions to verify implementation and compliance.
  • Provide technical assistance, EHS oversight, and coaching to the offshore and onshore personnel.
  • Deliver EHS training to offshore field staff focusing on compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Collaborate with offshore assets to ensure development of SOPs for compliant operations. 
  • Facilitate discussion of field observations and program improvements at daily Operations meetings.
  • Up to 25% offshore travel (overnight extended trips)

Experience

  • Minimum 10 years of experience and working knowledge in providing EHS support to offshore D&C operations and E&P field operations.
  • Offshore GOM experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of offshore D&C processes, along with general understanding of Production operations.
  • Leading and facilitating cross-functional teams to develop EHS procedures, processes and policy to support EHS improvements with an emphasis on fit-for-purpose processes for field operations.
  • Experience as company representative in communicating and working with regulators and 3rd party organizations.
  • Audit and Incident investigation experience, both safety and environmental.

Education, Training & Certifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Science, Engineering or related subject is preferable (equivalent experience is acceptable).   
  • Relevant technical and/or environmental qualifications (BCSP and/or NEBOSH)
