POSITION SUMMARY

The Information Technology Intern will be part of the Hess Exploration and Production (E&P) IT team. This position will work closely with key team members across disciplines ranging from Subsurface Computing, Engineering & Production Operations, Infrastructure & Security, Business & Enterprise Resource Planning, Information Management and Onshore/Offshore IT on a wide range of IT initiatives to deliver value to E&P.

This internship will offer the successful candidate the opportunity to develop an understanding of the Oil & Gas industry and advanced Information Technology applications not limited to but including areas such as High Performance Computing, Data Management, Data Analysis, Data Science, Application Development, Cloud Computing, Infrastructure deployment and management and IT Process & Governance

In 12 weeks you will be exposed to some of the most highly skilled professionals in the business, experience our operations first hand and participate in leading-edge training.

 

ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Conduct best practice research
  • Collect and analyze a variety of data, including:
    • Technology trends
    • Industry trends
    • E&P applications of technology
  • Develop reports based on your research and analysis
  • Participate in many aspects of the IT delivery process
  • Liaise with other members of Information Technology team to ensure service requirements are met for all supported activities

 

QUALIFICATIONS

 

Experience/Skills

  • Demonstrate leadership skills with a focus on business application
  • Possess a strong sense of ethics and high integrity
  • Desire to work in the Oil & Gas industry
  • Desire to develop an advanced understanding of Information Technology as is  being applied in the Oil & Gas industry
  • Previous experiences in Information Technology or Oil & Gas industry is a plus
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and manage deadlines
  • Ability to work both independently and in groups
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship management skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to exhibit energy, enthusiasm and a positive outlook

 

Education, Training & Certifications

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Management Information Systems, Business Information Systems, Information Technology, Computer Science, Petroleum Engineering, Geoscience, Business Information Systems or Business Management.
  • To be considered for this internship, all candidates must have completed at least three years of study.
  • Minimum cumulative GPA for this position is 3.25
