POSITION SUMMARY

The position is for a geophysicist in the Geophysical Excellence team. Hess is endowed with an extensive acreage position in Guyana, Suriname, GoM, Malaysia and Canada as well as having an active New Ventures team. Use of the highest quality seismic data is central to the company’s ongoing Exploration and Production plans hence we seek an exceptionally skilled and motivated individual to enhance the Geophysical Excellence team. The GX team is highly skilled in all aspects of geophysics and is committed to providing the best possible data to enable the most informed decisions by all associated business units.

 

The successful candidate will possess industry leading Acquisition, Processing, QI and 4D skills to maximise geologic information and value from seismic datasets.  Expert level competence in the latest signal processing and imaging methods is required, as is expert knowledge of node Acquisition design and Processing, Full-Waveform Inversion and Amplitude retentive workflows. The position will require close collaboration with business units to facilitate prospect generation, risking and volumes, well planning and drilling operations. Good communication and presentation skills combined with the proven ability to generate business-driven applications of geophysical technologies would be highly regarded.The position reports to the Director, Geophysical Excellence.


ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Seismic Acquisition Design and Execution: in particular Node surveys in Shallow and Deep water.
  • Advanced Signal Processing and Imaging skills.
  • Personality and gravitas to effectively influence and inspire contractors and partners.
  • Work as part of a multidisciplinary team to integrate geophysical, geologic and engineering data to influence and improve geophysical design and implementation.
  • Support and advise Asset Teams on designing, purchasing and executing geophysical surveys.
  • Collaborate with others in the team and assets to ensure a high standard of geological and geophysical rigor is applied to all prospects and projects.
  • Outstanding individual contributor and team player.
  • Effective project management, ability to multi-task.
  • A Subject Matter Expert able to mentor colleagues and junior staff.
  • Active participant in partner engagements with ability to influence operators with quality technical work and compelling reasoning.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

Experience: Required

  • Minimum of 15 years’ experience.
  • Expert level Acquisition, Processing and QI experience is required.
  • Seasoned in Geophysical project management (Acquisition and Processing).
  • Experience in integrating geophysical and geological data such as deep water depositional and petroleum systems information to paramaterise geophysical design.
  • Strong analytical and synthesis skills and commitment to continued learning and improvement.
  • Well-developed sharing, listening, interpersonal, and collaboration skills are highly valued.
  • Ability to manage projects with focus on delivery and presentation of results.

  • Rockdoc, PsPro or equivalents
  • Microsoft Office

 

Education, Training & Certifications

  • PhD, in a Geoscience field required
