POSITION SUMMARY:

 

Hess Corporation is seeking a high performing individual for a dynamic gas plant accounting position as part of a very collaborative team that is responsible for Hess’s North Dakota plants. 

 

This gas plant accounting role is responsible for the important processes of the setup of new wells advised by the field in TIPS and SAP PRA, and the on-going maintenance of well master data due to changes in contracts, production allocations, and operational changes arising from the continued growth for Hess in North Dakota.  Under the guidance of the TIPS accountant, the accountant would be responsible for interpreting and accounting for the impact of these changes on the complex monthly plant allocation process. 

 

The individual will also heavily support the TIPS accountant where familiarity with gas plant contracts and their related setups, TIPS experience in performing allocations and settlements, together with the ability to perform analytical tasks and reconciliations will be an advantage.  The individual will work closely with the TIPS accountant, and stakeholders Quorum, and IT, to test and implement TIPS upgrades and changes.

 

The job requires a proactive, self-starter who can multi-task in a time-sensitive environment and can work both independently as well as part of a very collaboratively team.

ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsible for setup of new wells advised by the field in TIPS and SAP PRA, and on-going maintenance of well master data due to changes in contracts, production allocations, or operational changes
  • Responsible for running monthly small gas system to further allocate a Central Delivery Point (CDP) in the TIPS
  • Review Global Production System (GPS) exception report which compares expected production from the production team to booked production, investigate the variances to determine root cause and resolve issues
  • Responsible for preparing customized monthly reports required for various customers
  • Utilizing various TIPs reports to create and analyze balancing reports for the Gas Plant Accountant (GPA)
  • Responsible for the preparation of the monthly North Dakota State reports (Form 12, Form 12A, Field Flare/Plant Flare Report) utilizing TIPS for review by the GPA
  • Responsible for the preparation of the monthly Form EIA-816 “Monthly NGLs Report” and annual Form EIA-64A “Annual Report of Origin of NGLs Production” from various sources for review by the GPA
  • Work together with the GPA to in processing of TGP prior period adjustments
  • Support the Gas Plant Accountant with internal and external inquiries
  • Part of team working closely with the GPA, Quorum, and IT to test and implement TIPS upgrades and changes
  • Communicate effectively and work closely with the rest of the GPA team
  • Participate in ongoing lean review and continuous improvement of accounting procedures, controls, and documenting processes

 

QUALIFICATIONS

Experience

  • At least five years of oil and gas experience, with at least one year in gas plant accounting preferred
    • Knowledge of gas processing contracts, allocations, transactions or measurement is a plus
  • SAP/PRA knowledge preferred
  • TIPS experience preferred
  • Sound analytical, interpersonal, organizational and documentation skills
  • Good communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Ability to work in time-sensitive environment and meet deadlines

 

Education, Training & Certifications

  • Business or Accounting degree preferred
  • Advanced Excel skills needed
