POSITION SUMMARY
 

The Houston based position reports to the Head of Projects and will be accountable for two key areas of work:

  • Monitor and adjust an existing Gulf of Mexico floating production system standard that is in later stages of development and designed to work in greater than 2,000ft water depth.
  • Development of a fixed production system standard that can operate in sub 2,000ft water depth with emphasis on mimicking the above (floating production system) topsides system.

 

Additional responsibilities shared within the Project group from a Project Technical Authority perspective are:

  • Continuation of implementing the Hess Way for Projects, with new expansion into MRI and Functions.
  • Deliver Critical Projects (Deepwater, Shelf, Unconventional, Mid-stream both Greenfield and Brownfield) thru continuous Pulse Checking Assurance, monitor/challenging weekly dashboards with heavy emphasis/focus on early phase projects within Hess Operated and non-Operated regions (US Onshore Unconventional Infrastructure, US Gulf of Mexico, Malaysia, Denmark and the OBO - Guyana Development).

 

ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES (FOR THE TWO KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES)
 

  • Work with the Developments / Asset team and associated technical authorities to develop and refine appropriate PFDs for the facility;
  • Engage with third party suppliers to build out the design of the facility and its associated support structure to a point that the fixed production system standard can be considered “complete” and ready for sanction should a Hess subsurface opportunity be identified;
  • A floating production system standard has already been developed with Exmar. Expectation is that individual will engage with Exmar and the relevant Hess disciplines (see relationships below) to ensure it continues to meet the requirements of both the Exploration and Production community;
  • As part of this work we expect the individual to:
    • Develop the production system standards according to the standard Stage Gate Process;
    • Develop and utilize Project Execution Plans covering all aspects of engineering, procurement, contracting, cost and schedule estimating, and risk management plans;
    • Coordinate all internal and external engineering for the project development;
    • Develop expenditure estimates and deliver accurate capital program expenditure forecasting and progress reporting;
    • Incorporate lessons learned and industry best practice into project delivery processes;
    • Deliver decision support packages and investment recommendations to management;
    • Provide input and support to Hess Exploration and Production business strategy and field development plans.

 

KEY RELATIONSHIPS

 

  • Operations, MR&I and D&C – primary relationship for individual, where the expectation is for him/her to work closely with line leaders, engineers and operators (Hess employees and contractors) in a variety of disciplines; 
  • Reservoir Management – key supplier of the well production and system data and “front-line surveillance” of the performance and condition of the reservoir/equipment interface;
  • EHS – key supplier of processes to ensure people are kept safe and that no harm impacts the environment while executing work to deliver against the objectives;
  • Commercial – key supplier to ensure that the workflow is not compromised by partner issues and that the associated hydrocarbons are marketed to maximize value;
  • Regulatory – key supplier of regulatory statues and rules as well as guidelines around processes to ensure that regulatory commitments of any development are understood along with the impact on costs.

QUALIFICATIONS


Experience and Skills

  • 15+ years of experience working in the oil and gas industry. Preference given to GoM integrated project facilities management experience offshore (deep-water and shelf), with knowledge of stage gate processes and understanding of the various project stages (i.e. pre-dev, detailed design, execution, HUC).
  • Proven leader in safety with experience managing and interfacing with internal and external project/asset stakeholders.
  • Excellent communication skills; individual must be able to effectively explain project strategies, risks and carry recommendations to senior managers and executives as well as provide clear guidance to team members.
  • Works well in a collaborative environment; actively shares best practices and is a hands-on team player.
  • Good knowledge of industry standards, best practices and design methods.
  • Knowledgeable in project control capabilities (tools and processes).
  • Strong MS Office skills including Word, Excel and PowerPoint

 

Education, Training & Certifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or higher in Petroleum, Mechanical, Chemical, Civil, or related field;
  • Preference given to an individual with a Professional Engineer license.
