POSITION SUMMARY

The GOM EHS Lead – Production will provide EHS, with emphasis on Safety, expertise and leadership for the GoM offshore Production organization. Facilitate the development, updating and quality delivery of fit-for-purpose standards, procedures and associated processes, utilizing a risk-based approach. Provides subject matter expertise in the understanding, assessment and management of safety processes to reduce risk and foster continuous improvement. Provide coaching and overall support to the Offshore EHS Specialists for three Production hubs.

 

This key role will be mainly office/onshore based, but will require the ability to conduct frequent travel offshore.   

 

ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provides leadership and coaching to the offshore EHS team to support key EHS processes in alignment with the GOM Operational Management System.
  • Facilitates the development and improvement efforts of EHS processes for offshore production operations.
  • Lead the Offshore EHS Network to foster standardization of EHS processes across production hubs.
  • Coordinates and supports the investigation of incidents, identifying preventative and  corrective action recommendations as required, monitoring / reporting on action status and presenting RCA summaries to management.
  • Conducts data trend analysis on incidents and counter-measures to drive improvement efforts.
  • Understand and manage operating risk to prevent incidents and harm to people, reduce potential damage to the environment and drive improvement efforts.
  • Continually working to identify and progress breakthrough improvement opportunities and ensuring EHS is managed in a proactive manner offshore.
  • Work with Process Safety Advisor to drive process safety efforts and learnings offshore.
  • Own the Lesson Learned process for Production.
  • Satisfy the Technical Authority (TA-3) duties for the Dropped Object Prevention program in GOM.
  • Occasionally fill in for Offshore EHS Specialist’s, as needed.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Relevant experience in offshore E&P operations and production.
  • In depth working knowledge and experience in fundamental offshore EHS and Production processes. Key processes include, but not limited to, Control of Work, risk assessments, hazard recognition, incident investigation methodologies and assurance activities.
  • Proficiency in developing and quality delivery of fit-for-purpose EHS standards, procedures and other key processes.
  • Knowledge and experience with relevant oil and gas industry codes, standards and regulations associated with offshore production operations.
  • Familiarity and experience with GoM BSEE and USCG regulations.
  • Ability to work independently, as well as part of a team, with good interpersonal, influencing and stakeholder management skills.
  • Highly effective interpersonal skills, including oral and written presentation and communication to both internal and external audiences.
  • Self-starter who works proactively and is able to manage multiple tasks simultaneously to completion.
  • Proficiency in Excel, Word, Powerpoint and other software applications.

 

Education/Training

  • High School Diploma required; Preferred Bachelor’s degree in relevant technical discipline and/or strong practical experience.
  • Applicable training certifications to support Production operations.
