POSITION SUMMARY

 The GOM Process Safety Sr Specialist will provide technical safety expertise and leadership for the GoM organization. Facilitate the development and implementation of fit-for-purpose standards, procedures and associated processes, utilizing a risk-based approach. Provides subject matter expertise in the understanding, assessment and management of processes to reduce risk and foster the prevention of major accident events. Investigate process safety incidents and ensure sustainable preventative actions are identified and implemented.This key role will be mainly office/onshore based, but will require the ability to conduct occasional travel offshore.   
 

 ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES

•    Facilitate, organize and lead, if required, HAZOP, HAZID, and related technical  

     Safety Studies specific to Production and Drilling & Completions operations to

     ensure they address appropriate areas of Process Safety.
•    Will lead the development of the GOM Risk Management Plan for offshore

     production hubs.
•    Provide technical/process safety expertise for Management of Change (MOC)

     process.
•    Provide technical/process safety expertise for Pre-Start-Up Safety Reviews (PSSR)
•    Provide technical/process safety expertise for non-routine and project activities.
•    Develop and deliver process safety training to the GOM workforce.
•    Leads the establishment and monitoring of process safety and performance

     management metrics.
•    Will act as the technical and process safety subject matter expert (TA-3) for the

     GOM organization.
 

QUALIFICATIONS

Experience

•    10+ years technical / process safety experience in E&P offshore operations. 
•    Knowledge and experience with relevant oil and gas industry codes, standards and  

     regulations associated with process operations and safety engineering.
•    Experience technical safety hazard analysis and risk assessment methodologies

     including awareness and interpretation of quantitative risk assessments.
•    Proven ability to prepare, lead and facilitate  technical/process safety engineering

     workshops such as HAZOP, HAZID, Bow-Ties and SIMOPS.
•    Dispersion modelling capability.
•    Knowledge and experience in the application of API-14C, and other regulations

     pertinent to offshore oil & gas production facilities
•    Familiarity and experience with GoM regulations is preferred.
•    Ability to work independently, as well as part of a team, with good interpersonal,

     influencing and stakeholder management skills.
•    Highly effective interpersonal skills, including oral and written presentation and

     communication to both internal and external audiences.
•    Self-starter who works proactively and is able to manage multiple tasks   

     simultaneously to completion.
•    Proficiency in Excel, Word, Powerpoint and other software applications.

 

Education/Training & Certifications

•    Bachelor of Science in Engineering or relevant technical discipline.
•    Relevant technical and/or process safety training qualifications.
