POSITION SUMMARY
This member of the Hess Office of Cybersecurity team works with IT and other business organizations. The role focuses on security operations, including processes and technical controls leveraged to protect, detect, and respond to cybersecurity incidents.
This role directly interfaces with internal IT, Managed Security Service Providers (MSSP), and other members of the Office of Cybersecurity.
ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Supports teams responsible for incident response, security tools, vulnerability management, and security operations.
- Ensures log monitoring of systems, networks, and applications.
- Maintains Incident Response Readiness through the facilitation of training and exercises.
- Assists in the analysis of incidents and threats.
- Advises on operational playbooks and procedures.
- Reviews and recommend security technologies solutions to improve security posture.
- Works with threat-hunting teams
- Supports the testing and validation of security controls as directed.
- Servers as an Incident Response Commander, as required.
QUALIFICATIONS
Experience
- IT Security Operations required
- Working knowledge of managing security infrastructure and tools (e.g., firewalls, endpoint protection, vulnerability scanners)
- Strong knowledge of IT infrastructure
- Working knowledge of NIST Cybersecurity Framework (CSF), NIST 800-53, NIST 800-82, and CIS.
Education, Training & Certifications
- Bachelor’s or equivalent experience in computer science, information systems, cybersecurity, or a related field
- Optional Certifications: CISSP, CISA, CISM, CCSP, PMP, CSM, GSTRT, GPGM
