POSITION SUMMARY

 

The Technical Applications team provides direct support to Drilling, Engineering and Production IT systems. The Sr Specialist role focuses primarily on Production IT systems support and projects associated with the production portfolio.
 

This individual is required to have a good understanding of the production domain, business workflows and related IT applications requests of the business. Must be able to either do the work independently or liaison with another team to get the job done. This individual must be able to manage the Integrated Service Provider (ISP) that offers technical support from both onsite and remote locations and ensure operations as per defined service level agreements. This individual would also be accountable for meeting delivery KPI’s for the Production portfolio as defined by IT management.
 

This role requires directly interfacing with the business stakeholders. The day to day tasks required may be highly variable and often will require deep understanding of the issue or demand and the use of structured analytical skills to come up with a way forward.
 

The ideal candidate will have experience supporting IT systems and/or executing IT projects in the Oil and Gas area. Good written and oral communication skills is a must.

 

ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES

 

  • Execute strategic IT plans outlined by leadership to support organizational initiatives.
  • Work as part of a wider global team to provide business analysis, facilitation and support to the Production business units as required. Specifically:
    • Conduct strategic reviews of existing processes and technologies.
    • Gather and analyze detailed business requirements.
    • Ability to learn and understand at a high level the business functions and dive into the details where necessary.
    • Ability to conceptualize processes and suggest improvements
    • Convert requirements into an architecture and design for the solution being created, with the support of the Enterprise Architecture team.
    • Coordinate the development, testing, and implementation of robust solutions.
    • Define, plan, and execute projects to address the underlying requirements, leveraging the PMO.
    • Ensure governance of the project portfolio through communication with Production business stakeholders and Asset IT.
    • Manage IT demand review and prioritization with business stakeholders.
  • Participate in the development of strategic plans, roadmaps, business cases and prioritization of business partner system initiatives.  Develop and maintain sustainable relationships with the team, stakeholders and effectively anticipate the needs of others.
  • Plan, coordinate and administer project, analysis and support activities of contractors and consultants.
  • Works with direct line Manager on annual IT budgets and forecasts.

 

SKILLS & COMPETENCIES

 

  • Knowledge and/or experience with Well Information Management, Drilling & Completions, Facilities and Design Engineering Systems a plus.
  • Willingness to travel in support of project activity where required.
  • High performance delivery focus with an emphasis on task ownership and completion.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Should possess ability to influence and manage stakeholders.
  • Liaises closely with other functional E&P groups as necessary.
  • Positive, service-focused attitude is required.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

 

Experience

  • Minimum of 5 years of IT industry experience supporting and managing Oil and Gas applications is recommended.
  • Experience with leading and managing projects or programs of work is recommended.
  • Good understanding of leading industry software applications and workflows in the Production domain.
  • High performance, delivery-focus with an emphasis on task ownership and completion. Self-motivated with an enthusiastic, methodical and diligent approach.
  • Working experience and/or familiarity of the following applications or workflows is a recommended:
    • Daily Production Data Capture & Processing
    • Exception Based Surveillance
    • Midstream IT systems & Data flows
    • Real Time Data Processing: PI
  • Experience and exposure to business analysis, requirements gathering and quality assurance.

 

Education, Training & Certifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in an IT, Engineering or closely related technical field is strongly desired (or equivalent work experience); advanced degree is a plus.
  • Project Management Professional or Program Management experience is preferred but not required.
