POSITION SUMMARY
Hess’ Environmental, Health, and Safety department is searching for interns to join our team in summer 2025! Over the course of our 12-week program, interns will work in the Environmental, Health, and Safety group supporting job hazard analysis, root cause analysis, liaising field work oversight, and field analyst activities. There will be involvement in projects with significant impact in the North Dakota-based Human Resources team remit.
ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Interns will work alongside a designated Environmental, Health, and Safety mentor who will facilitate the opportunity to work on projects that will contribute to your team’s success and the bottom line of the company. Some examples of intern project work and responsibilities include:
- Environmental, Health, and Safety dashboard management and data analytics application to trending issues/hotspots/areas of operational interest
- Liaising activities related to embedment of Environmental, Health, and Safety into the line requiring ability to influence across field operations and immediate work group
- Support Hess Operational Management System initiative
- Assist in role orientation documentation for internal health and safety positions for asset to ease change management impacts of personnel movements
- Assisting and learning day in the life of an Environmental, Health, and Safety professional in field activities
QUALIFICATIONS
Experience
• Demonstrate leadership skills with a focus on business application
• Possess a strong sense of ethics and high integrity
• Comfortable speaking up and asking questions
• An eye for detail, strong sense of order and organizational skills
• Desire to work in Oil & Gas industry
• Desire to develop an advanced understanding of Environmental, Health, and Safety
• Strong analytical skills
• Ability to handle multiple tasks and manage deadlines
• Ability to work both independently and in groups
• Strong interpersonal and relationship management skills
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
Education, Training & Certifications
• Must be currently working towards a Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Studies, Data Analytics, Health & Safety, Homeland Security, or similar studies
• Previous work or internship experience is preferred
