HYBRID ELIGIBILITY
This position works a hybrid schedule, spending time remotely and in the office in Minot, ND. The current hybrid schedule provides flexibility to collaborate in the office Tuesdays through Thursdays and work from home Mondays and Fridays. With our 9/80 feature you get time off every other Friday when you work at least 80 hours over the preceding nine days.
POSITION SUMMARY:
This Minot, ND based position supports Bakken Upstream Reliability Operations as the primary finance point of contact. The role requires strong partnering with the business to provide financial analysis, forecasting, budgeting, reporting, strengthen cost management practices and to achieve the objectives of the business unit. This position will require land travel within North Dakota and occasional travel to Houston, TX
This role is crucial in providing financial analysis, forecasting and reporting to optimize operational efficiency and support strategic decision-making.
ROLES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
Business Support:
- Work closely with cross-functional teams to understand financial performance and align with operational goals
- Conduct financial analyses related to field operations, including cost analysis, profitability assessments, and variance analysis. Identify trends and provide actionable insights to supported teams
- Support development of cost management behaviors within the business
- Review, recommend, and implement process improvement initiatives
- Provide ad-hoc analysis and research as requested by stakeholders
- Act as a liaison between accounting/central functions and Reliability Operations
- Provide oversight for AFE tracking and ensure AFE spend status is communicated regularly
Forecasting & Budgeting:
- Preparation of annual budgets and monthly forecasts, monitor financial performance against budgets and highlight divergences, working closely with field operations to understand drivers
Reporting:
- Prepare and present monthly financial reports for the Reliability Operations team, providing variance commentaries while ensuring accuracy and timeliness of reporting
- Coordinate timely submissions for month-end close meetings
- Provide supplementary data as required for use in quarterly earnings call materials/preparation
EXPERIENCE:
- 5 years+ of oil and gas industry experience supporting field operations or a related role preferred
- Business partnering, teamwork and collaboration skills that promotes cross-functional work environment
- Communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to present complex financial information clearly
- Identifies process improvement opportunities to increase efficiency and effectiveness and ability to bring new ideas and perspective to existing practices and processes
- Willingness and flexibility to work through peak cycles as necessary
- Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and manage conflicting deadlines
- Experience in Lean practices would be beneficial
- Strong proficiency in Excel and other Microsoft Office products
- Strong proficiency in SAP (FI, CO, PM, PS)
EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related Business Administration field required.
- Chartered Accountant, Certified Public Accountant certification or equivalent preferred
