The Manager, Bakken Capital Projects – Global Supply Chain, is responsible for the collaborative development and implementation of strategies for Hess capital spend in North Dakota.  The Manager serves as the lead to assigned business segments for the delivery of contracted services and associated materials, as well as the standardization of process for these activities.  The Manager is ultimately responsible for strategy, delivery, and customer relationships, both internal and external, related to capital expenditures for Hess in the Bakken. 

Role Expectations

•    Accountable for contract and procurement execution against approved strategies and agreements developed at the center.
•    Drive execution to be consistent with agreed standard work, global standards and procedures.
•    Participate in asset operating rhythm using dashboard metrics to identify problems and drive continuous improvement across the business.
•    Serve as single point of GSC accountability for Hess capital spend in the Bakken.
•    Collaborate with Category Management to deliver annual work programs and new requirements as they emerge.
•    Collaborate with Supply Chain teams, Operations and other functions as appropriate to lower total cost and deliver enhanced value.
•    Represent the Hess EHS culture to the contractor community in the Bakken.
•    In conjunction with the asset, prepare and participate in the supplier performance management process for identified contractors and conduct reviews as appropriate.
•    Perform site safety visits at field locations on a quarterly basis, document observations and develop opportunities for continued improvement in the EHS realm.

Capital Spend Management Process

  • Advanced understanding of the capital project development and approval process
  • Active use of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system (SAP) and concepts as applicable
  • Understanding of procurement principles, policy, purchase order mechanics, category management / procurement roles & responsibilities  
  • Lean basics
  • Demonstrated collaboration skills


Experience; Business Accomplishments Required


  • 7+ years’ experience in a capital spend environment including construction contracting and project procurement
  • End-to-end Supply Chain process experience and knowledge
  • Lean leadership experience, with understanding of waste elimination, and value stream management / flow optimization
  • Systems application experience and knowledge (SAP) 
  • Proven ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize issues, manage diversity and develop creative solutions to achieve results
