Roles & Responsibilities

  • Provides leadership and guidance to a North Dakota EHS Team including Reliability Operations/MRI, Environmental and Data QA. Responsible for the performance and professional development of the EHS Team.
  • Coordinates activities with the Asset’s Environmental Department ensuring appropriate interfaces are established and maintained with applicable regulatory agencies, as required by law. 
  • Manages conformance with the company’s EHS Management Systems and Key Processes within dileneated span of control.. 
  • Oversees the Asset’s Environmental Department ensuring appropriate interfaces are established and maintained with applicable regulatory agencies, as required by law.   
  • Implements systems to identify and monitor key performance indicators ensuring alignment with Corporate key performance indicators.  
  • Develops effective working relationships with operational and general management to influence acceptance of EHS initiatives and goals.
  • Implements EHS strategies and programs to meet the objectives of the Asset Business Plans.
  • Ensures that risk management principles are adopted, assessments are conducted, hazards are identified, controlled and mitigated.
  • Ensures appropriate EHS resources are assigned to meet the business needs of the organization.
  • Assists with preparing and monitoring of the annual EHS budget in line with the business needs and ongoing contract management activities.
  • Supports the Asset Emergency Response Group assuring the appropriate emergency response procedures are established within Reliability Operations that support operational activities.
  • Coordinates and supports the investigation of incidents as necessary, providing effective corrective action recommendations and monitoring actions to closure.
  • Confirms trend analysis is undertaken on incidents providing feedback and recommendations to facilitate continuous improvement.
  • Prepares EHS performance updates and reports as required.
  • Performs Management site visits to field locations providing feedback on observed performance. 
  • Regularly communicates with the Asset EHS Manager with regards to safety discrepancies, improvement opportunities, personnel well-being and any other issues affecting the EHS performance of the Asset.
  • Perform contractor management activities to help improve BU contractor’s safety performance.

Education & Training

  • A minimum of 10 years EHS Oil & Gas operations experience
  • At least 5 years experience in management / supervisory role
  • Bachelor's Degree in Science, Engineering, or related field, preferred
  • CSP certification highly preferred


Work Environment    

  • Field Time (“go see”, meetings/collaboration) – 70%
  • Desk Time (admin, invoices, data analysis, emails) – 30%
  • This is not a rotational position and will need to reside permanently in Minot, ND.
