The Facility Engineer- Instrument & Controls, located in Minot, ND, provides instrumentation and controls engineering support for Infrastructure capital projects.  All technical activities associated with the design and procurement of process equipment in accordance with Hess requirements, codes, standards, etc. Responsible for supporting the Infrastructure Execution Team through the complete cycle of equipment specification, supplier selection, and supplier drawing and documents review including detailing project scope, goals and deliverables.  During the construction phase, provide support to construction contractors responding to RFIs and answering questions.  Support QA, QC, and commissioning through startup for completion of COS and handover to operations.  This role will also represent the Infrastructure Organization when providing I&C engineering support to as needed to other internal Hess organizations including Well Factory Planning and Design, Infrastructure - Development, Engineering, Global Supply Chain, Operations, and Maintenance Reliability Integrity to deliver successful projects. This role reports to the Infrastructure Discipline Engineering Manager.  Discipline specific reporting relationship to I&C asset and global Technical Authorities.



  • Provide electrical, instrument and controls engineering support to the Infrastructure Execution and Development teams.
  • Interact with other organizations such midstream/upstream operations, drilling and completions, etc.
  • Develop preliminary engineering proposals, conceptual and basic designs.
  • Provide engineering calculations for review and/or selection of equipment.
  • Prepare/review instrument data sheets, Cause & Effect diagrams, etc.
  • Coordinating work with other engineering disciplines.
  • Technical evaluation of bids.
  • Vendor’s documents and drawings review.
  • Work with other project team members, including engineers, technicians and external partners.
  • Understand/comply with current codes, regulations and industry standards.
  • Investigate technical problems, evaluate alternatives and identify the optimum solution.
  • Effectively prioritize workload between several projects.




  • 5+ years engineering experience in Electrical, Instrument and Controls Engineering.
  • Experience with companies providing engineering services to the Chemical, Refining and Petrochemical Industry.
  • Experience must cover the area of Conceptual Engineering, FEED (Front End Engineering
  • Design), Detail Design and Consultation.


Education, Training & Certifications: 

  • Minimum BS in Electrical Engineering
  • Familiar with applicable industry codes and standards.
  • Oil & Gas industry experience required, with onshore shale production experience preferred
