Sr Engineer Reliability - Upstream Fixed Equipment Job

HYBRID ELIGIBILITY
This position works a hybrid schedule, spending time remotely and in the office in Minot, ND. The current hybrid schedule provides flexibility to collaborate in the office Tuesdays through Thursdays and work from home Mondays and Fridays. With our 9/80 feature you get time off every other Friday when you work at least 80 hours over the preceding nine days.
POSITION SUMMARY
Reliability Engineering is a critical role in our Reliability and Maintenance strategy for driving operational excellence. This role is part of the Upstream Reliability Engineering team supporting continuous improvement in fixed equipment availability and productivity for the ND Upstream Asset (Wells and Pads). This role interacts closely with Operations, Maintenance, Maintenance Engineers, Condition Monitoring, Infrastructure, and Supply Chain functions in support of equipment reliability/performance analysis, defect elimination, and continuous improvement.
ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES
The primary areas of focus for this role include:
- Develop, implement, and sustain an evergreen reliability roadmap for assigned equipment based on equipment criticality and system/equipment availability and vulnerability.
- Optimize preventative, predictive, and condition-based maintenance based on failure history, inspections, and definitive analysis of cost and benefits
- Key team member on capital projects with new equipment installations to assure Reliability and Maintenance criteria are included
- Analyze Predictive Maintenance results and initiate corrective follow-on work.
- Provide field assistance for more complex equipment related issues to ensure assets are restored to proper working condition
- Lead troubleshooting and root cause analysis for complex equipment related issues
- Develop reliability driven metrics for equipment such as MTBF, MTTR, etc.
- Enable and assist in the training of operators, mechanics, and other team members to convey the "why" of equipment related issues
- Identify improvement projects to enhance equipment reliability.
- Maintain awareness of emerging technology, assessing applicability to improve reliability and performance, or to reduce maintenance cost
- Support equipment overhaul SOW
- Provide capability assessment in partnership with maintenance of Hess / 3rd party crafts
- Serve as Subject Matter Expert (SME) for assigned equipment
- Initiate and Approve MOCs
- Approval of deferral and barrier failures
- Lead criticality assessments as needed for assigned equipment
- Lead interdisciplinary equipment reliability team for assigned equipment
- Provide assistance/mentorship to Maintenance Engineers

Work Environment
- Office based role (Minot or Tioga) 5/2 (9/80) with field visits as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS
Experience & Skills
- Preferred 8+ years refining, petrochemical, oil and gas industry experience or equivalent industry related experience such as energy, military maintenance, mining or other heavy manufacturing
- Strong experience in a progressive reliability organization with strong maintenance and operations experience a plus
- Strong proficiency in the following areas:
- Knowledge of industry codes, standards, and processes (i.e. ASME, API, ANSI, RCM, FMEA)
- Fixed equipment (piping, flange make-up, pressure vessels, heat exchangers)
- Rotating equipment (pumps, compressors, engines, turbines, motors, blowers, fans)
- Electrical systems including low and medium voltage motors, VFDs, control systems
- Failure analysis
- Working knowledge of predictive maintenance and condition monitoring techniques and technologies.
- Project management
- Knowledge of work management system, corrective/preventative maintenance, and equipment master data
- RCM based Predictive and Preventive Maintenance strategies
- Strong knowledge of applicable EHS procedures/practices such as Permit to Work, Energy Isolation, Respiratory Protection, PPE, Emergency Response
- Proficient computer skills / business system knowledge (SAP, Microsoft Suite)
- Possess strong written and verbal communications skills with ability to lead, coach, and train others
- Excellent collaboration and interpersonal communication skills
- Strong analytical, technical, and problem-solving skills
- Able to work in fast-paced, constantly changing production environment
- Must be available outside normal working hours for technical support if needed
- Strong organization, time management, prioritization, and planning skills and able to manage multiple tasks with tight deadlines for self and team
Education, Training & Certifications
- Bachelors of Science degree in engineering
- Industry certification in reliability processes and methods is preferred
