POSITION SUMMARY

This position will be responsible for planning and executing Asset Retirement Obligation (ARO) projects to ensure regulatory compliance and meet land and contractual obligations in North Dakota. The role will work closely with a cross-functional internal team as well as external agencies and other operators to retire assets according to best practices and industry standards.   

ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Oversee pre-project planning activities culminating in the compilation of a Conditions of Satisfaction handover package containing field, environmental, and administrative data
  • Oversee execution of the scope of work with a focus on job safety and regulatory compliance 
  • Facilitate daily and weekly planning meetings and associated reports up and out
  • Monitor and report program progress against Safety, Quality, Delivery & Cost Metrics; identify leading and lagging metrics and implement countermeasures
  • Create and manage program budgets and required AFEs, facilitate contractor bid process, approve invoices, prepare monthly accruals and forecasting
  • Direct/support field activities through attendance at cross-functional walkdowns, providing data, and interpretation/application of rules/regulations
  • Represent Hess – establish and maintain relationships of integrity and trust with external regulatory agencies, including North Dakota Industrial Commission, Bureau of Land Management, U.S. Forest Service
  • Represent Hess – establish and maintain relationships of integrity and trust with other midstream companies, electric cooperatives, and E&P operators
  • This role requires a minimum of 20% travel to Keene and Tioga

QUALFICIATIONS

Skills/Competencies

  • Excellent organizational skills with superior attention to detail
  • Ability to manage heavy project load, timelines and success criteria; ability to quickly switch gears between projects without losing quality/priority; ensures individual projects progress appropriately; drives issues to closure
  • Ability to communicate effectively in person, via telephone, email, presentation and informal settings, including preparation of maps, slides, charts or other needed supporting materials; knows the audience and verifies that the message has been understood.
  • Proficient user of Excel, Word, Outlook, GIS, and SAP
  • Strong interpersonal skills for working closely with team members, industry partners and external stakeholders
  • Familiarity with oil and gas production operations, maintenance, abandonment, and reclamation
  • General knowledge of regulatory requirements and practices including local, NDIC, BLM, Department of Environmental Quality, USFS; ability to research and interpret rules and regulations
  • Strong desire to learn and committed to continuous improvement
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic organization
  • Ability to perform all job duties with minimal supervision, and self-motivated to deliver high-quality and on-time work

Education/Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • 6 years of project management experience
  • Demonstrable record of managing multiple tasks and projects, and application of standard processes
