Sr Technician - Industrial Control Systems Job

HYBRID ELIGIBILITY

This position works a hybrid schedule, spending time remotely and in the office in Minot, ND. The current hybrid schedule provides flexibility to collaborate in the office Tuesdays through Thursdays and work from home Mondays and Fridays. With our 9/80 feature you get time off every other Friday when you work at least 80 hours over the preceding nine days.

 

 

Roles & Responsibilities


This role will be charged with performing implementation, maintenance, user support and troubleshooting tasks within multiple ICS SCADA systems to include Iconics Genesis Gen 64-bit, Ignition, enterprise Mobideo OSI PI, and XsPOC. This position will provide a strong focus on project management, standardized processes, continuous improvement, safe delivery of project and maintenance activities, and adherence to the Hess Process Control Domain (PCD) cyber security standard. Development of integrated workflows with key stakeholder groups is required, including but not limited to Operational Technology, Cyber Security, and Operations. 

 

The primary areas of focus will include the following:

  • Project Management
    • Provides project management and budgetary control for large SCADA initiatives
    • Assists in managing contract execution resources
  • Operational Control
    • Acts as the first line of technical support in problem resolution for a variety of Hess Bakken SCADA systems
    • Provides technical knowledge, leadership, and skill in support of special projects
    • Reviews system logs and provides system and develops system and process metrics
    • Helps prepare, as necessary, accurate and complete documentation for end-user products and systems including instructions, processes, and procedures
    • Establishes and implements disaster recovery and business continuity processes, tools, and procedures
  • Continuous Improvement
    • Learn, embrace, and implement a LEAN philosophy with a primary focus being on standard work development (not to be confused with SWIs), 5-Whys, and Problem Solving A3s to:
    • Reduce process variation
    • Reduce unevenness in work (level out through prioritization and scheduling)

Work Environment    

  • Office based role (Minot), 9/80 work schedule. 

 

Experience/Skills     

  • Demonstrates knowledge of and/or ability to learn following skills:
    • Thorough understanding of the Ignition Platform 
    • Thorough understanding of the Iconics SCADA suite
    • Basic Understanding of XSPOC, MSSQL, SAP, and Kepware
    • Working understanding of Microsoft Productivity Suite
    • Basic Understanding of industry practices for Management of Alarm systems, HMI graphics standards
  • Strong project management skills
  • Experience with industrial automation, including but not limited to field transmitters, PLCs, data flow and industrial communication protocols 
  • Experience in system optimization providing a reliable, scalable, and sustainable environment to minimize data loss and ensure high data integrity
  • Working knowledge of IP addresses schema, user account set-ups, permissions and policies and emerging technologies
  • Ability to effectively analyze the impact of enhancements and product upgrades and implement changes in a process managed manner
  • Strong analytical, technical, and problem-solving skills
  • Strong organization, time management, prioritization and planning skills and able to manage multiple tasks with tight deadlines for self and team

 

Education/Training    

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Associates or technical degree preferred.
  • 2+ years experience in SCADA, IT, OT, or Industrial Automation (Iconics, Ignition, or Wonderware preferred)
  • Must have valid driver’s license.
